Dear Brother & Sisters of the IAFC:
There is one particular Constitution and By-Laws Amendment (italicized and bold below) that we are asking you to pay attention to and please vote “YES”. Your support and “yes” vote provides a permanent seat on the IAFC Board of Directors to each of the Safety, Health and Survival, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Fire and Life Safety (FLS) Sections. There is no cost or fiscal impact with this amendment.
By having permanent seats on the Board, it will allow us to continue to focus on our missions and have a voice on all relevant issues affecting our interests.
We are certainly proud that the entire IAFC Board of Directors unanimously supported this amendment when it was brought to them during the meeting this past March in Reno.
The Board of Directors recognizes the importance of the work that your 3 sections do and the products that we put in your hands-the members of the IAFC. We are not social or fraternal sections of the IAFC, we work each and every day for you-our members-and we ask for your support in this amendment so that we can continue to focus on section responsibility.
The 2017 IAFC elections open April 27 and close June 8. Seven amendments to the IAFC Constitution and Bylaws have been proposed and require member consideration. The specific amendment identified above is reference below.
Article V. Section 2. Composition of the Board. Language changed to make the seats on the IAFC board of directors currently held by the EMS, Fire & Life Safety and Safety, Health & Survival Sections permanent seats and to allow any other section to request a board seat if that section’s membership is equivalent to or greater than 10% of the total IAFC membership. Proposed by Chief Norris Croom, international director, EMS Section, on behalf of the EMS, Fire & Life Safety and Safety, Health & Survival Sections. Recommendations: CBR: No. IAFC Board: Yes.
We sincerely thank you for your support.
Your EMS, Fire-Life Safety and Safety Health and Survival Section Boards of Directors.
